The YMCA has a long history of service to the community. Join with us to keep that tradition alive!

Whether you'd like to volunteer once a month, once a week, or on your own schedule, we have a volunteer position to match your interests. See below for current opportunities and contact information.

To become a volunteer, please complete a Volunteer Application and either email it to info@monroecountyymca.org or bring it to the Welcome Center at either branch. The complete application includes: 1. Application 2. Code of Conduct 3. Volunteer Commitment to Safety and 4. Volunteer Acknowledgment. Completion of volunteer application does not guarantee volunteer experience.

Special Events

Volunteers at these annual events do everything from keeping race trails safe to hiding Easter eggs. We'd love to have your help! These positions are great for individuals and groups alike.

Play and Learn

Play and take care of children, ages 6 weeks through 6 years, in our drop-in childcare.

Frequency: We're looking for ongoing volunteers to serve once a month, twice a month, or weekly

Times: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-1pm and 4-8pm; Friday 8:30am-1pm, Saturday 9am-1pm

Location: both YMCA branches

Requirements: Must be 14 or older, or at least 11 and have completed the YMCA Safe Sitter Course.

 

 

Youth Sports

Coach a team in one of our many youth sports leagues.

Frequency: We’re looking for ongoing volunteers to commit to one or more teams for a season

Times: Evenings, T-Ball (Summer), Basketball (Winter), Soccer (Spring)

Location: both YMCA branches

Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older.

 

 

Welcome Center

As the first friendly face people see when they come through our doors, these volunteers greet members, help with check-in, and hand out towels and locks.

Frequency: Ongoing

Times: Monday-Saturday mornings

Location: both YMCA branches

Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older

 

 

Swim Lessons

Assist youth in the water as they learn to swim.

Frequency: We are looking for volunteers who can commit to one or more times a week throughout the summer.

Times: Monday – Friday afternoons, Saturday mornings, ongoing

Location: both YMCA branches

Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older

 

 

Service in Friendship

We are a group of knitters, crocheters, and quilters to come together each month to garner their talents on behalf of the Y For All scholarship fund.

Frequency: Group usually meets once a month, more frequently in the fall.

Times: Various Monday afternoons, 2-3pm

Location: Southeast YMCA
