YMCA adapted activities welcome individuals of all ages with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Trained staff and volunteers work with participants to assist them in sports, strength training, and more. See below for a list of current opportunities.
Adapted Sports Clinic
An adapted, multi-sport program for youth and adults ages 6 and up with physical disabilities. Some sports may be appropriate for ambulatory athletes depending on individual ability. Prior to instruction, athlete's abilities will be assessed.
$40 per semester, 1:00 -5:00 pm

Adapted Strength & Endurance Training
This program is a collaboration between the YMCA and IU. Participants will receive pre and post assessments, individualized appointments with IU students, goal setting and a variety of exercise selection including Cybex, dumbbells, treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. The instructor will design an individual program to develop fitness goals identified by the participant and instructor. This course has been created for people who have physical, cognitive, social, and/or emotional disabilities to make a long term impact on wellness.
